Collaboration:
Now that you have gained a complete understanding of the stance in which your news outlet’s article has taken about the meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong-un, as well as how its writing reflects the political bias of the company, you need to corroborate your analysis with your fellow group members. First, read the other two reports. Although you do not need to answer the Sourcing, Contextualization, and Close Reading questions for these on your Analytical Thinking Chart, you should be cognizant of the subtle differences between the frameworks in which each of these were written as opposed to the article you have already analyzed. Next, after each group member has read all three news accounts, you are to work together to fill in the blank boxes on your Analytical Think Chart. To do so, each group member will share his or her responses to the questions pertaining to his or her particular article. Afterwards, the other two group members should provide their own insights of their articles to try and build a more thorough understanding as a team. While doing so, each student should fill in the blank spaces on the first three rows of the organizer. Once this task has been completed, work together as a group to answer the question posed under the corroboration column of your organizer, and collaborate to complete the chart in its entirety. Be sure to think about the different political biases held by the three varying news outlets. Lastly, individually mark which source you found to be the most reliable about the meeting between President Trump and Kim Jong-un, and write a detailed explanation as to why you feel this way on the back of your chart. |
